It's International Workers Solidarity Day!

It’s May Day and I’ll have a flower in my cap and be singing Solidarity forever, For the union makes us strong when I go out on the river later – thus giving a nod to fiery Beltane and workers' rights. The fish will be impressed. :-)
Elsewhere the Maritime Union of Australia is keeping up the side for worker solidarity and you can find march details on its
website.

Found the flag fluttering at Google Images

How can it be "Workers Day" when nobody wants to work?

Nobody wants to work?
Where on earth did that tired old rumour come from?
If that were actually the case then March 2011 Australian Labor Force statistics would not show a continuing decline in the national unemployment level and an increase in the number of employed people over the last tweve months.
This occurring at a time when the number of hours worked per week by the average employee have also been increasing more than the average growth in their wages.
The nation's GDP growth rate is also still expanding.
Given these facts, it is hard to view Australia as a country overburdened with individuals who don't want to work.
