APN readers have spoken - they want Ginger Meggs!

Although the judges at APN are yet to officially declare the result of the readers' poll for their favourite comic strips and thus the three they want retained when APN 'restructures' its comics page Ginger Meggs polled very strongly and came in second with 23% of the votes.

Here's what APN's Daily Examiner displayed on its website after the poll closed.

Fans of Ginger Meggs, stand up and be counted

APN newspapers has informed its readers that it will be reducing the number of cartoons it publishes from six to three.

As a mighty big fan of Ginger Meggs this blogger will be casting a vote to have Ginger be one of the three that continues to appear.

All fans of Ginger Meggs are called on to visit an APN website and give our home-grown little mate their vote.

Vote here here here here  here  here by Saturday November 29.

Another Spot the Difference

The Daily Examiner (and probably all its stablemates in the APN network) provided readers with a bit more brain food with its presentation of Ginger Meggs on Thursday July 10.

Spot the Difference - today's grey matter testing material

NCV has had reports that versions of Ginger Meggs appearing in APN publications, including The Daily Examiner, are being used in schools and retirement villages to test the grey matter of both the young and old.

1. Ginger Meggs in today's Examiner

2. Jason Chatfield's Ginger Meggs as it appears at gocomics

A couple of wags have noticed that APN's version appears a day or two (or three) after the real version appears elsewhere. They suggested NCV provides an advance copy of the Ginger Meggs that is scheduled to appear in the following day's APN productions. They reckon they can work out what APN's edited version will look like. Well, that's food for thought.

Let's give APN another chance to get its house in order and fix up this dreadful situation. Over to you, APN!

Today's Spot the Difference

1. Jason Chatfield's Ginger Meggs at gocomics

2. Ginger Meggs at today's Daily Examiner (and, presumably, at other APN productions)

Is APN getting a discount rate for its Ginger? It should be!

Today's Spot the Difference ... another in a series

If someone at APN doesn't soon lift their game and have the publisher subscribe to the non-budget version of Ginger Meggs "Spot the Difference" at NCV will provide contact details at The Daily Examiner and The Northern Star where readers can forward entries in the competition.
Today's hint: see yesterday's hint.

Yet another Spot the Difference

Thanks to APN, or at least its two dailies in northern NSW that Clarrie reads, here's another Spot the Difference.
Why are The Daily Examiner and The Northern Star providing their readers with budget versions of Ginger Meggs?
Today's hint: punctuation (perhaps a devious APN staffer was a bit mischievous with the white correction fluid)

Another Spot the Difference

Clarrie Rivers is a mighty big fan of Ginger Meggs so it's with a very heavy heart that another Spot the Difference is presented.

APN newspapers, including The Daily Examiner and The Northern Star, carried this version of Ginger in their Saturday editions.

This version appears at GoComics.com

Why is APN running budget versions of Ginger? Is it really that cash-strapped?

Mrs Meggs, that's a shocker!

Ginger Meggs, who's a regular in The Daily Examiner, carried a big boo-boo when it appeared in today's edition.

However, this time Ginger wasn't responsible - he was completely innocent.

Instead, it was his mother who put her foot (or rather, her mouth) in it.

Give yourself pat on the back when you find her howler.

Ginger's Mum, Sarah, ought to be required to write the word correctly one hundred thousand times.

UPDATE: The  version of Ginger which appeared in the Examiner was an early one which has since been corrected. The appearance of "aught" can be attributed to a Yank who changed it for this/her audience and was too slack to get back to Aussie Jason. Jason and his Aussie mates have subsequently set things straight. Thanks, Jason!

Strange coincidence

The stars must have been aligned this week for nit nose pickers. First, Jason Chatfield's Ginger Meggs appeared in Wednesday's Daily Examiner:

Then, Dr Joan Croll had this piece in the letters columns of The Sydney Morning Herald:

Ginge goes all political....

"If cannibals cooked a politician they'd have to use a crock pot" ran the graffiti scrawl in the Ginger Meggs comic on 21st June 2011.
Rather appropriate given the edifying performances being flounced across the national stage by Canberra 'stars' this month.

Note to The Egg Timer editor - you're at least two weeks behind Ginger Meggs online.

Hang in there, Ginge!

Ginger Meggs needs our support as he copes with the fact that his best friend and current cartoonist, Jason Chatfield, was recently the victim of one very dangerous cabbie.
Chin up, Ginge. Get well soon, Jas!

Ginger Meggs's school boy howler

A mate who reads everything and anything has picked up a howler in a recent Ginger Meggs strip.

Click on the image to enlarge it.

Can you find the howler?

Thanks, Yamba's Apostrophe Person, for the tip.
