The aggressive and prolific land and property developer Andrew Baker is apparently intent on standing as a candidate in the 2012 Clarence Valley Local Government elections.
His former business partner is the local NSW Nationals MP for Clarence Chris Gulaptis.
Between the two of them they made a fair fist of turning great swathes of the Lower Clarence into a wildlife free, native treeless, urban nightmare.
Could things get any worse for the Clarence Valley community?

Those pro-development for the sake of jobs should move to places where there are plenty i.e. cities and mining centres. Those of us who like things as they are did that in our youth (personally I lived 30 years in miserable, cold Canberra to make the money to live in paradise) so that we could enjoy places such as the Clarence in our old age.
Then again, as a community (and including North Coast Voices!) we seemed to want the Grafton gaol to stay on the job argument, perhaps we're being a little hypocritical and cute here?
Unchecked urbanisation and other economically, socially and environmentally unsustainable development in the Lower Clarence could jeopardise the regions potential.
The Clarence Valley has a rich history and many natural wonders to offer. I'd like to see a future in this region where these assets are utilized for the benefit of the exhisting community and visitors to the region, for generations to come. Not destroyed for short term profit or boosting egos.
