Belonging to a recognised category of poor that contains less than half a million souls and has little political clout, it has been so long since a Federal Budget gave me anything that I now treat budget night as a matter for hilarity. Wayne Swan's first budget did not disappoint in that regard.
I am again one of those that government expects to make and scrape, in the face of rising costs and reduced options.
