I do love Mr. Squiggle. I've loved Mr. Squiggle ever since I was a child.

Yesterday, my friend Norman Hetherington, the man behind the man from the moon, died in Sydney aged 89.

I was fortunate enough to meet him in 2007 and became friends through our organisation, the Australian Cartoonists Association.

I was once a guest in his home and I was shown through his extensive collection of cartoon artwork from the first half of the 20th century through to the present before I was taken to the basement to meet Squiggle himself.

No words can describe what this moment meant to me. Squiggle was my first memory of drawing and I've always assuaged that he was one of the guiding lights of inspiration for my career.

Norman was my friend, but I felt I knew him through HIS friend decades before meeting him in person.

I'll never forget him.
Thank you, Norman.

Jules,
I'm sure that many Australians share your fond memories of Mr. Squiggle and(in my case) Miss Pat.
It's one more link with the happy past gone.
